In the late 70’s he worked as David Hockney’s assistant. In 1988 Richard spent several months in New York working with Jasper Johns, proofing and editioning complex carborundum prints.Since founding his Wellington Studio in 1989, Richard has focused on his own artwork. Using his studio’s garden, its wildlife and travel as his inspiration, he has published over 400 images. Richard is undertaking his 13th tour of Japan in late 2021, having already held over 200 solo exhibitions in over 30 cities across the country so far.A frequent exhibitor at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and a twice invited exhibitor at the Discerning Eye Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, Richard also regularly shows his work internationally, including being guest international artist for an inaugural Malborne Art Fair in 2012. Public Collections include British Library, Cartwright Hall, Hunterian Art Gallery, Museum of London, Leeds Art Gallery, The Victoria and Albert Museum. . . Bidding starts at just £50. . Auction runs 5-19 November Hosted by @dreweatts1759 . VIEW AUCTION - Link in bio. . . . Please do not bid on artwork in our Art on a Postcard auctions if you intend on selling the artwork after you have purchased it. This auction has been organised for charity and all artworks have been generously donated by the artists to raise money for @thehepatitisctrust. When the work produced for the charity is sold on the secondary market it damages our relationship with the artist and prevents us from fundraising. . #ArtonaPostcard #AOAP #AOAPWinterAuction #auction #artauction #charityauction #notforprofit #eliminatehepc #hepatitisctrust #limitededitionprint #buyartonline #art #buyart #artwork #limitededition #framedart #affordableart #contemporaryart #artistsoninstagram #artistsofinstagram #RichardSpare

In total, 230 international artists have donated work to raise much needed funds for The Hepatitis C Trust’s helpline which is staffed entirely by people who have had hepatitis C. The helpline has become a key component in the current Infected Blood Inquiry, the largest public enquiry in British history, which was launched to investigate why infected blood products were being used to treat NHS patients prior to 1992.

This is a timed online auction running from Thursday 5 November - Thursday 19 November and will be hosted by Dreweatts Auction House of Pall Mall, which was established in 1759.
