We are delighted to learn that Richard's etching and aquatint print Breakfast for One has been acquired by The Museum of the Home.

The Museum of the Home, formerly the Geffrye Museum of the Home, is a museum situated in the 300 year old Geffrye Almshouses on Kingsland Road in Shoreditch, London. It explores home and home life from 1600 to the present day.

Richard is also proud to have previously exhibited at this important museum, as part of Images in the City, a group exhibition held in the summer of 2005.

Richard drew this piece directly from his breakfast table, when he was a student at Maidstone Art College in 1972/3. It was a still life of his breakfast in the kitchen of his student flat share. He says breakfast was then the most important meal of the day, when, as an impoverished student he occasionally treated himself to a rasher of bacon! He still sees this print as an important record of ‘home’ as a student. The print was published later, c.1989 and was likely shown at Images in the City in 2005.

Richard is honoured to be represented in this permanent collection that explores the meaning of 'home' a deeply personal and emotive subject, provoking important discussion of contemporary issues, challenging you to rethink the home.
